Foggia Airbase: Despite poor weather we had a good take-off and assembly. Zone 2-3 Outbound: Nothing to report Zone 4 Outbound: Radio message received by Flat Foot Floogie that had to abort the mission due to heavy damages received from GAF fighters. Zone 5 Outbound: Moved to vacant TEC position. Zone 6 Outbound: Nothing to report Zone 7 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): Attacked by 2 Jerrys waves while approaching Tuscany coasts. First wave was ineffective, 2 Fw-190 were driven off by escort, the last one moved away with no hits. Second wave were more aggressive: 1 Fw-190 and 1 Me-109 were driven off by our little friends, a Fw-190 went down after some hits from tail guns (passing shot) set engine on fire. Last Fw-190 was damaged (left wings aleiron and flaps) and escaped after almost grazing our left wing. Flak of medium intensity without causing damage. As we approached the IP, Navigator Burch noticed that the bombardier 2nd Lt. Miller was lying unconscious at his station. Burch took the bombardier's position while S/Sgt McLane took Miller to the Radio compartment rendering him aid. Despite the situation and Burch very little experience, the bomb drop occurred correctly and with a very good result: luck or a newly discovered talent? Moving away from the target, Flak was non existent. We were attacked by two waves but 3 Jerrys found the P38s in their course while a Me-109 moved away without hitting us and taking damage and a Me-110 escaped when our hits damaged its right wing. Zone 6 Inbound: 2 Me-109s and a single Fw-190 attacked us. The Fw-190 was engaged by the escort fighters, while a Me-109 hid in the clouds after missing us, and the last Me-109 was shot down by the joint shots from the tail guns and ball turret Zone 5 Inbound: 2nd Lt. Miller recovered and wanted to return to his post. Zone 4-3 Inbound: Nothing to report. Zone 2 Inbound: Attacked by 3 Me-109 and 1 Fw-190: Fw-190 was driven off and 1 Me-109 walked away after no shots from us damaged him and without hitting us. Last 2 Me-109 were shot down by our machine guns, no parachutes were seen coming out of the two planes that crashed to the ground. Foggia Airbase: Landed safely. 2nd Lt Miller was taken to the hospital for checks after he fell ill on board, the doctor said it should be nothing to worry about and that he would definitely return to base the next day We were attacked by many enemy fighters but without taking any damage, this was due to the expertise of the escort fighters but also due to the low accuracy and courage of the enemy fighters. Probably the Luftwaffe is sending new recruits into combat ( the dice brought out many "green pilots") -------------------------------------------------

Foggia Airbase: Good take-off and assembly. Zone 2 Outbound: Top turret power failure prompt repaired by Eng. T/Sgt Burkey. Zone 3 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 4 Outbound: Attacked by two waves of FW-190. In the first wave there was 1 fighter damaged and escaped into the clouds, 2 intercepted by the escort while the last fighter, although damaged, scored a few hits irreparably damaging the Navigator's heat compartment system. The same fighter made a second pass, but without taking further damage and without hitting us, it moved away. In the second wave two Fw-190s attacked us from 12 o'clock but 1 was intercepted as it approached and the other caused no damage and continued on its course to hunt for more bombers. Instead, the two tail Fw-190s were shot down by hits from tail guns and the Ball turret. Zone 5 Outbound: Navigator moved to Radio room to avoid frostbyte. Zone 6 Outbound: Nothing to report Zone 7 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): Upon entering the target zone, the ship was rocked by a nearby explosion that caused no damage; it was probably a German bomb dropped from above. We were then attacked by 3 Me-110s that did not have much luck, as one was immediately intercepted by a P38 while the other two were shot down by our shots. The medium flak caused some damage with no effect to the right wing. Although the navigator tried to manage the course from the radio room, the bomb drop was not accurate. Turning the bow toward the base, we did not observe flak; we were attacked by two Ju-88s that were taken over by escort fighters. Zone 6 Inbound: Attacked by 4 Fw-190s: two were damaged and abandoned the attack, one was intercepted while the fourth avoided our shots and came close causing much damage to the ship. On its second pass it was damaged and interrupted the attack by moving away. Zone 5 Inbound: Nothing to report. Zone 4 Inbound: We were attacked by two Fw-190s, but they were intercepted by the escort. A Fiat G55 "Centauro" of the Italian ANR (National Republican Air Force) although damaged by our shots, tried to approach us but missed us and continued its course disappearing into the clouds. Zone 3 Inbound: Nothing to report. Zone 2 Inbound: The Navigator returned to his station as soon as we descended to 10,000 ft. Foggia Airbase: Landed safely. S/Sgt Paul Stewart was medicated trackside and discharged immediately afterwards. Today we had our baptism of fire! This war will still be long and difficult. -------------------------------------------------

Foggia Airbase: Hard take-off and assembly due to poor weather Zone 2-4 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 5 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): After the calm of previous zones, in the target zne the Jerrys raged against us: - first wave formed up by 3 Me-109: he escort engaged the one at 12H while the other two, at 6 o'clock Low and 9 o'clock Level were shot down by our gunners; No German pilots were seen abandoning the planes. - second wave formed up by a pair of Fw-190 and a Me-109: first Fw-190 approaching us from 10.30H o'clock was shot down when its right wing was shattered by our shots. The Me-109 was seriously damaged and moved away after removing some paint from the nacelle. Last Fw-190 was missed and he positioned himself favorably (probably he was an Ace) to unload some shots that caused us a lot of damage and wounded the tail gunner Sgt Bolden who warned us on the intercom that it was nothing serious and could maintain his position. The enemy hits the O2 system of the Pilot compartment, the Heat system of the Ball turret and knocked out the Bomb Controls. The same Fw-190 made a second pass, avoided our shots but after missing us continued its trajectory in search of other bombers. - third wave formed up by 4 Fw-190: 3 of them left without having caused us damage and having suffered light. Fourth a/c after avoiding our shots he hit us with some bullets that fortunately caused only a few holes in the ship. Returned to make a second pass but escaped by taking a deep dive after we damaged him. Observed light and ineffective Flak over the target. Our bomb run was completely Off Target due to inoperative bombs controls. Flight Engineer T/Sgt Burkey calculated that with current O2 in pilot compartment tank we could safely return to base, even without descending to a lower altitude. No Flak during egress from the zone even if 3 Jerrys were on our path: a lone Me-109 was intercepted, 2 Fw-190 moved away with light damages on both of us. Zone 4 Inbound: Even though we had enough O2, we decided to descend to 9,000 feet to keep Sgt. Whalen healthy inside the Ball turret, which had the heat system completely out of order. In addition, the numerous blows suffered and the holes allowed the entry of cold area from the outside, which could also be dangerous for the rest of the crew. We communicated our intention by radio and demanded that another bomber take up our position. Zone 3-2 Inbound: Nothing to report. Foggia Airbase: Landed safely. Sgt Bolden was treated directly on board the airstrip, the wound was superficial and hospitalization was not necessary. -------------------------------------------------

Foggia Airbase: Take off and assembly were hard in mud and poor weather. The cold wind coming from the Balkans, whipped the air considerably lowering the outside temperature. Zone 2 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 3 Outbound: Spotted a lone Me-109 engaged by escort fighters. Zone 4 Outbound: Still a lone Me-109, but our angels took care of it. Zone 5 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): Attacked by 3 Fw-190: 1 of them was driven off by P47s, remaining Jerrys walked away after being damaged by our machine guns and causing us no damage. Light and ineffective Flak observed during target approach. Bombs dropped on the target. No Flak on egress. German bombs dropped from above shook our ship but caused no damage. No Jerrys interested in us. Zone 4-2 Inbound: Nothing to report. Foggia Airbase: Landed safely despite the mud on the runway made it difficult to control the ship. -------------------------------------------------

We were excited about the first long mission and the position of Lead Bomber. We had so much tension and stress accumulated during the last few days and missions called back that we couldn't wait to take off. Giulia Airbase: Despite the poor weather we managed to take off without difficulty and wait for the assembly of the whole squadron. Zone 2 Outbound: The warning lights in the cockpit reported an anomaly to the engine fire extinguishers; a check by the S/Sgt McLane confirmed the failure and non-repairability of the entire system. We continued the mission hoping for the custody of our escort and luck. Zone 3-11 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 12 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): Engine #2 turbo-supercharger failure reported while entering target zone. Attacked by 4 Me-109: three of them were driven off by friendly fighters, last one managed to approach but performed an evasive maneuver and disappeared into the clouds after his shots missed us. Flak over the target was moderate but no damage were reported. Bomb dropped with a sufficient result. No Flak reported while turning to homebase. We were attacked by 5 Jerrys, only 1 was intercepted and driven away. Two were damaged and escaped, causing us no damages, one walked away after his shots were inaccurate. A 12 Lv o'clock Me-109 was shot down by the S/Sgt McLane. Some German rockets were lobbed into formation but caused no damage to the ship. Zone 11-3 Inbound: Nothing to report. Thanks to the decrease in weight due to the bomb drop and fuel consumption, we were able to stay in formation despite the turbo-supercharger failure of engine #2. Zone 2 Inbound: A Ju-88 tried to cause trouble and prevent us from returning to base, but after being heavily damaged on the right wing preferred to leave the sky. Giulia Airbase: Landed safely. It was a long mission that required all our attention and tense nerves throughout the trip. Tonight we will celebrate at the pub together with the crew to release the tension a little. I asked the Ground Crew Chief to thoroughly check the engine systems, as they were a matter of great concern to us during this mission. -------------------------------------------------

Giulia Airbase: Take-off and assembly into poor weather were ok. Zone 2 Outbound: Rockets lobbed into formation cause no damage to our ship. Zone 3 Outbound: A lone Me-109 encountered and was shot down by the top turret that tore the fuselage and killed the pilot. Zone 4-11 Outbound: Nothing to report Zone 12 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): Enemy bombs dropped from above into formation but no damage were reported by our ship. Attacked by a Fw-190 who was driven off by RAF guys. In a subsequent wave, 2 Fw-190s were damaged and moved away while the third was engaged in a dogfight with an escort fighter. of moderate intensity the Flak did not cause us any damage. The approach to the target and the dropping of the bombs took place without problems and from the first impressions it seems to have been a good result. No Flak on egress from target zon; a lone attacking Fw-190 was driven off by RAF fighters. Zone 11-2 Inbound: Nothing to report. Giulia Airbase: Landed safely. Tonight it's time to relax! -------------------------------------------------

- Left Rudder x1: 10 - Left Wing no effect: 10 Peckham Points: 20pts - overnight repairing Casualties: --Awards: - AM: all crewmen AAR (flown with TFT)Giulia Airbase: After rainy and muddy days finally the sun appeared. Take off and assembly were regular. Zone 2 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 3 Outbound: Attacked by a Fw-190 from 12H and a Me-109 from 9Lv: first one was intercepted by escort while Me-109 was shot down by gunners, the enemy plane engine caught fire and enveloped the entire plane. After the first wave 2 Me-110 approached and while one was intercepted and driven off by the escort, the other was damaged and preferred to move away with a tight turn. Zone 4 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 5 Outbound: 3 Me-109s hunted us down. The plane at 10.30H was intercepted and engaged in a dog-fight with a P38; the second Me-109 after having slightly damaged the left rudder, was shot down by the shots of the Tail gunner (passing shot), the third Me-109 also damaged, interrupted the attack moving away. Zone 6 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 7 Outbound: 3 Me-109s attacked us. While one was engaged by the escort and another damaged withdrew, the third managed to avoid our shots and hit the left wing with no effect. On the next passing we managed to damage him so much that he was forced to look for other targets. This was followed by the attack of a Me-110 in vertical climb and a Re-2005 of the Italian Air Force. We caused light damage to the German plane while the Italian aircraft passed without damage and continued its course to another squadron. Zone 8 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): Attacked by 2 Fw-190, both driven off by P38s. Flak intensity was moderate and cause no damage, this allowed us to align and stabilize and make a good bomb drop. Flak on egress was non-existent. The Jerrys were not interested in us and we were not attacked Zone 7 Inbound: ! Fw-190 and an italian Macchi C-205 "Veltro". Germa plane was intercepted by P38s while C-205 was destroyed by combined fire of Ball and Top turrets. This italian fighter seemed to be very well armed and very handy. Some German rockets were lobbed into formation but caused no damage to the ship. Zone 6-2 Inbound: Nothing to report. Thanks to the decrease in weight due to the bomb drop and fuel consumption, we were able to stay in formation despite the turbo-supercharger failure of engine #2. Giulia Airbase: Landed safely. -------------------------------------------------

P38s took care of 1 the other Me-110 was destroyed by tail gunner shots. While approaching the target Flak was of medium intensity and caused no damage and we succeeded in put a good percentage of bombs in the right area. No flak in egress segment but the Jerrys were very angry with us, because they attacked us with many a/c in 3 waves. First 2 Me-109s, one intercepted by the escort and one shot down by the T/Sgt Burkey, then a Fw-190 also shot down by the nose gun shots. We were then attacked by 3 Fw-190s, one intercepted and the other two shot down by our machine gunners. Then again 3 Fw-190: the escort managed to intercept one, the second at 12Lv was damaged and abandoned the attack without hitting us. The third avoided our shots and caused us some superficial damage to the first pass, in the second pass caused us other superficial damage and slightly wounded Sgt Bolden in the leg. Zone 2-3 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 4 Outbound: Attacked by 2 Fw-190: first one was intercepted by escort while the second went away after some ineffective shots. Zone 5 Outbound: Attacked by a pair of Me-110 bith driven off by escort. Zone 6 Outbound: 3 Fw-190s pounced on us, the first to approach was intercepted and escaped followed by 2 P38s. The second to approach was shot down while the last one managed to overcome our barrage and hit us causing heavy damage, especially to the bomb release controls. On the second pass, however, we returned the favor by hitting him at the engine and knocking him down. Zone 7 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): No Jerrys was interested in us allowing us to get closer to the target. The barrier of the flak, of medium intensity, caused only some superficial damage. The bombardier 2nd Lt Miller moved into the bomb bay and operated the release controls observing the other bombers; despite this, he managed to achieve a satisfactory result. After the bombing, the flak resumed covering the sky with black clouds. Some shrapnel reached the bomb bay causing leakage of fluid from the hydraulic system. Fortunately, no enemy fighters seemed to be interested in us. Zone 6 Inbound: 1 Me-109 and 1 ANR C-205 set course for us. The German fighter was shot down, while the Italian one avoided our shots but failed to cause us damage and continued to other targets. Zone 5 Inbound: Attacked by a pair of Fw-190: one escaped undamaged while the second was intercepted by an escort fighter. Zone 4-2 Inbound: Nothing to report. Giulia Airbase: The landing was difficult due to damage to the controls and ailerons, but we managed to touch the ground without damage. -------------------------------------------------

Mallard AAR (flown with TFT)Entering the crew quarters everyone was staring at me, trying to understand from my face what news I had during the debriefing and therefore how hard the next mission could be.
"Guys! Today we are going to have a very long tour! We're going to France! But we won't go for the baguettes, Bordeaux wine and beautiful French girls! We're going to visit the port of Toulon to bring some of our gifts to the Kriegsmarine! So nerves, I'm counting on you!"
Giulia Airbase: More mud and rain here in Giulia, we thought we would find the heat and the sun here in Italy, but the cold winds of the Balkans are not our friends. Take-off and assembly were ok even if difficult. Zone 2 Outbound: A Ju-88 and an ANR C-205 were driven off by escort Zone 3 Outbound: Attacked by a couple of Me-109. One was badly damaged and preferred to abandon the fight; the other one was driven off by guys from 325th. Zone 4-9 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 10 Outbound: Attacked by a wave formed by a Fw190 damaged, preferred to fly away and an italian C-205 driven off by RAF escort. Zone 11 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): Attacked by Jerrys as soon as we entered target zone: 2 Me-109 and a single Me-210, all of them driven off by excellent RAF guys. Medium flak over the target caused only minor superficial damage at radio room. We succeeded to align and stabilize with the target. Bombs load launched with approx 30% on target. Again medium flak but no damage reported. We were attacked by 2 Fw-190s, one was intercepted by the escort while the second moved away after being damaged by tail guns. An ANR Me-109 was heavily damaged and pulled away after a wide turn. The Jerrys seemed particularly angry: we were attacked by a Me-210 but it didn't get too close thanks to a British fighter, a Me-109 was heavily damaged by our shots and preferred to abandon the attack, while a third Me-109, attacking us from vertical climb, avoided our shots by managing to place at least three volleys that caused damage to the rudder and the fuel transfer pump, Fortunately to no effect. A volley penetrated the nose compartment, slightly wounding Lieutenant Mallard in the chest and Lieutenant Mullins more severely, who began to lose a lot of blood from his left shoulder. The German fighter made a turn and returned to the attack and although damaged, hit the right wing causing only a few holes. He seemed to have the devil in his body, for although his plane seemed to have lost some of its stability, he returned to the attack but this time was destroyed by the precise shots of the T/Sgt Burkey at Top Turret. We didn't see the pilot leave the plane. Zone 10 Inbound: German bombs dropped from above caused no damage. Lt. Mullins moved to radio room. He was given first aid but his health condition appeared very serious. Without the help of navigator, I tried to maintain eye contact with the rest of the formation as much as possible. Zone 9-7 Inbound: Nothing to report. Zone 6 Inbound: 2nd Lt. Mullins died. Zone 5-2 Inbound: Nothing to report. Giulia Airbase: When we came in sight of the airbase, we threw the flares to ask for the help of an ambulance. The landing was quite soft despite the gray weather, gray like our souls due to the loss of a crew member. The doctor could do nothing but confirm Mullins' death, while Mallard, although not serious, was taken to the hospital. -------------------------------------------------

On his second attack, however, he was shot down. Medium flak over the target cause superficial damage but some shrapnels in waist compartment caused our left waist gunner death for a mortal shot to the head. Explosions caused by German bombs dropped from above shook the ship but caused no damage. Attacked by an italian Re-2005, driven off by spitfires, and a Fw-190 that even if damaged hit us caused some holes and a shot to left wing root; on its return it was shut down by our gunners. - Right waist gun inop: 10 Peckham Points: 10pts - overnight repairing Casualties: --Awards: -- AAR (flown with TFT)2nd Lt. Leblanc just joined us from US as navigator. This was his first debriefing and mission; no time to think we must take off! Giulia Airbase: Finally famous italian sun shined on runway. Take off and assembly were smooth and occured without accidents. Zone 2-5 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 6 Outbound: Light coastal flak observed but no damage reported. Zone 7 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): As soon as entered in target zone we were attacked from 5 Fw-190 and a lone Me-210 in two waves. 3 Fw-190 were driven off by escort while 2 remaining moved away after light damages. Jammed right waist gun. Some rockets lobbed into formation but fortunately no damage reported. Medium flak over the target but we were too high to be reached by shots. Bomb run went ok and we dropped a good percentage of bombs over the target. Light flak after bombing, no damage to the ship and no Jerrys attacked us. Zone 6 Inbound: Light coastal flak just south of Chioggia: it seemed to be not so skilled and prepared and caused no damage. Zone 5 Inbound: 2 Me-109 and 1 italian C-205 attacked us: german fighters were driven off by escort while italian moved to others bombers after unsuccessful shots exchange. In the wreckage of the crashed plane were found the charred remains of another man, who had probably died earlier on board. Zone 4-2 Inbound: Nothing to report. Giulia Airbase: Landed safely. Giulia Airbase: bright sunshine allowed for a comfortable takeoff and a smooth assembly. Zone 2-4 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 5 Outbound: A couple of Me-109 and a single Me-210 were driven off by our escort. Zone 6 Outbound: Coastal flak welcomed us as soon as we entered North Italy from Adriatic sea; no damage reported. A Fw-190 and an italian ANR Me-109 attacked us, both were driven off by 325th FG guys. Zone 7 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): Attacked by three Me-109 but our P-47s were quick and precise in intervening and got them away from us. Medium Flak over the target caused some holes in the nacelle without serious consequences. I passed ship control to 2nd Lt Dirigo that accomplished a very good bombs drop. Light Flak after bombing but no damage were reported. Our escort driven off a lone Fw-190. A second wave of Me-110 attacked us: one was driven off, another one was damaged and preferred to move away while the last one was shut down by T/Sgt Burkey. Zone 6 Inbound: Coastal flak tried to prevent us from returning to base, but the shots were inaccurate and caused us no damage. Zone 5-3 Inbound: Nothing to report. Zone 2 Inbound: A general O2 system outage was reported. We already were below 10.000 so no further problems were reported Giulia Airbase: Safe landing -------------------------------------------------

Giulia Airbase: Good weather. Smooth take off and assembly Zone 2 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 3 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): An Fw-190 suddenly came out covered by the sun but did not hit us and moved away as quickly as it had arrived. A second wave formed up by 5 Fw-190 attacked us. One was driven off by escort while three of them were shut down by our gunners. The fifth Jerry was damaged but managed to place shots at our ship, knocking out the Pilot Compartment heat system and a few holes in the bodywork. On his second pass he was heavily damaged and preferred to move away. As we approached the target, the Flak was heavy and accurate: the sky filled with black clouds and our ship was shaken and jolted but not damaged. However, this did not allow for accurate bomb drops. Still heavy flak as we tacked to take the return course but no damage reported nor GAF against us. Zone 2 Inbound: Descended to 8000 feet to avoid frostbite; no flak or enemy aircraft detected. Giulia Airbase: Good weather. Take off and assembly were ok Zone 2-6 Outbound: Nothing to report. Z one 7 Outbound: Attacked by a first wave composed by 2 Me-109 and 1 Me-210; all were driven off by escort fighters. A second wave formed up by 3 Fw-190: 2 of them were driven off by escort while last one was damaged and preferred to go away. Zone 8 Outbound: 2 Fw-190 and 1 ANR Me-109 attacked us. Fw-190 at 12H was destroyed while others planes were driven off. Zone 9 Outbound: I was impressed by the beautiful landscape of the snow-capped Alps. Despite the war, there is still something that manages to excite. Zone 10 Outbound: A Me-109 attacked us at 12 level and caused us some superficial damage and our shots dameged his right wing, on his second round he was destroyed by our Left Waist gunner. A Me-109 at 1.30Lev was driven off while a Me-109 from 12H moved away causing no damage. A second wave of 2 Fw-190 was managed by our gunners: on of them was heavily damaged and preferred to escape while the second one was destroyed. Zone 11 Outbound: Nothing to report. Zone 12 Outbound/Inbound (Target Zone): German bombs dropped from above exploded as soon as we netered target zone, we had some "rock&roll" but no damage reported. A lone Ju-88 from 6H avoided our shots and hit us causing some minor damage but bombardier 2nd Lt Mallard wass KIA with a direct head shot, while 2nd Lt Taylor suffered a SW to the abdomen. On the second pass there was no damage on either side 2nd Lt. Leblanc moved the body of the bombardier to its position taking the place at the N/E bombsight, while the S/Sgt Stewart gave first aid to the wounded co-pilot and carried him to the radio room: he was covered and injected with a dose of morphine, fortunately the bleeding seemed to stop. As we approached the target, the Flak became violent and precise, but no shrapnels reached us. The navigator 2nd Lt Leblanc executed the bomb dropping with mastery, obtaining a sufficient result. Flak again, this time light and no damage were reported. As we moved away from the target, we were attacked by 4 Fw-190s: two of them were intercepted by the escort fighters, one was shot down while the fourth avoided our shots and damaged the heat system of the nose compartment, on its second pass it was damaged and preferred to move away. Suddenly a lone Ju-88 attacked us but our escort kept a good watch and intercepted him. Navigator moved to radio room to avoid frostbyte. Zone 10 Inbound: Attacked by a wave of 4 Fw-190: all of them preferred to move away after being damaged. After, a wave of 2 Fw-190 and 1 Me-410: we had just some superficial damage and 1 Fw-190 and the Me-410 preferred to attack other bombers; last Fw-190 hit us on second pass causing superficial damages and light wound to S/Sgt Stewart. Zone 9-7 Inbound: Nothing to report Zone 6 Inbound: Attacked by a Me-109 and an italian C-205 "Veltro". German fighter was hit and destroyed by our shots while the italian fighter preferred to fly away after being damaged. Zone 5 Inbound: A pair of Me-410s attempted to approach but were intercepted by escort fighters. Zone 4-2 Inbound: Nothing to report. Giulia Airbase: Flares launched to request ambulance on runway. Landed safely. It was a long and hard mission. We lost two crew members 2nd Lt Mallard and 2nd Lt Taylor (he survived the surgery but he has to pass three months in the hospital, after thsi period he'll probably repatriated to the US as he is no longer fit to operate as a bomber crew.
