How to get started
To join the 509th Bombardment Squadron (H) Go to 509th-vbw.proboards.com/. Look around the board and see what the game is like. If you’re still interested, here is how to join the 509th.
First, create an account on proboards, then:
1. Decide on which game system you want to use
a. Target for Today
b. Queen of the Skies
i. If you don’t own a copy, go here 509th-vbw.proboards.com/thread/725/play-own-copy
2. Put together a crew and bomber name based on the rule set you’ll be using
3. Go to this link to present your plane to the bomber group - 509th-vbw.proboards.com/thread/2112/join-509th
a. Click on the last number in the list of little boxes and go to the bottom of the page.
b. To post your plane information, click on “Reply” on the left side of the screen.
4. Await a reply from either the Group or Squadron commander with a welcome message. Once you do, you’re in the game!
a. This reply will also contain a lot of supplemental information that you will find useful, including the squadron you’ve been assigned to.
5. If you have any question reach out to your squadron commander. They’re not as grumpy as they were historically. You can also reach out to the group commander, group xo, operations or intelligence officer and they are more than happy to help.

Going on a mission
1. Once you’ve gotten a reply from the CO you will be informed of the mission you’re to fly. It will be posted on this board - 509th-vbw.proboards.com/board/136/mission-board
2. There will be a gazetteer giving you an overview of the mission, including much information that you normally would roll for when preparing for a game. This information is shared by all players in the game to insure some uniformity. Please also see the mandatory rules - 509th-vbw.proboards.com/thread/1086/compiled-house-rules-qots-tft and 509th-vbw.proboards.com/board/61/house-rules-mandatory
3. After adding this information to your mission chart, roll for takeoff and proceed on the mission and teach the Hun a lesson!
4. Record all actions for every zone as these will be needed for your After-Action Report (AAR).

Your After-Action report (AAR)
1. Once the mission is completed and you get back to base (or not), write up your AAR including at a minimum the information found at the bottom of the Gazetteer.
2. If your plane took any damage you will need to calculate “Peckham Points” 509th-vbw.proboards.com/thread/1150/peckham-points-repair-times to see when (if) the plane can fly again.
3. You can enhance your AAR by including information from the optional rules found here: 509th-vbw.proboards.com/thread/2092/optional-rule-index
4. Crew members may be eligible for awards. Go here 509th-vbw.proboards.com/thread/2750/regarding-awards-promotions to see how this is done.
5. Once this is done go to the main page on the board and click ‘Missions again.” You will see your mission listed.
a. Click on this and post and go to the bottom of the last page available.
b. Click on the right side “Reply” and post your AAR making sure to list the items as noted at the end of the Gazetteer. You can see the format other players follow by going through previous missions.
6. When the mission ends a synopsis of the mission will be posted giving information on all the planes that flew, awards, bombing runs, and other.
There is a lot more that can be done, such as getting replacements for lost crew, getting a new plane (if needed), but you’ll be able to figure that out by looking around the board.
7. If your entire crew or any member is lost, they simply replace the losses in the existing aircraft or squadron.
