AFTER ACTION REPORT (QOTS - Beery):

Everything was peaceful until we crossed over from Greece into Bulgaria, then we were immediately set upon by 5 FW-190s, we lost our Radio and took some superficial damage, but managed to destroy 3 of them with MSG Giambi claiming two of the kills. As we reached the target zone we faced more resistance, our Starboard Waist Gun was knocked out of action, but not before doing significant damage to the enemy,  Here also SGT Hunter recorded his second Kill of the mission against a ME-110. Flak over the Target was Heavy, hitting our Waist compartment and knocking out our Starboard Aileron, but we still managed to put 50% of our bombs over the target. On our return we took a few more hits form another FW that hit our Port Wing Aileron and our Port Wing Root, otherwise all damage took was superficial. Upon arrival in Egypt we discovered our landing gear was inoperable, MSG Giambi attempted to fix but nothing worked so we strapped in for a belly landing, luckily the crew made it and the Swinging A's should be back in flying shape in a few days.

AFTER ACTION REPORT (QOTS - Beery):

Zone 1: Take Off Successful

Zone 2-6: Nothing to Report

Zone 7 Outbound: Met Heavy resistance in the form of two 110s, two 109s, and five 2001s, the germans were easily dealt with with with three of the four MEs being destroyed as MSG Giambi and SGT Hunter continued their great streak of kills from last mission. The Italians, however, had our number, we took out two but not before losing our Autopilot Mechanism, Port Cheek gun, Radio, Starboard Aileron, and Tail Guns, along with 2LT Jackson and SGT Fingers Taking Wounds. 

Bomb Run: The Flak hit us Hard Killing  SGT Blue, and hitting our port wing twice, disabling our other Aileron and Causing a fuel leak, with all the hits and loss off our autopilot mechanism we barely managed to put 5%of our bombs over the target. We assesed our fuel leak and luckily it seemed very small so we decided to stay in formation and attempt to make it back to either RAF LG-174 or RAF Aboukir.

Zone 7: Inbound: Ran up against a 190 and 109 leaving the target both were destroyed with SGT Eckersly recording his first and SGT Tenace and MSG Giambi splitting the second

Zone 6: two more 109s were spotted and we gave better than we got taking only superficial damage will doing considerable to the enemy

Zone 5-3: No sign of the enemy, we decided to push the last of our fuel to RAF Aboukir to try and reach the better medical facilities at Alexandria

Zone 2: Safe Landing at Aboukir

The Doctors managed to save 2LT Jackson, but his part in the war is over, SGT Fingers Died of his Wounds.

Zone 1: Take Off Successful - Flying a Spare Bomber while the Swinging A's is being repaired

Zone 3- Target: Other B-17s drove off attackers. 

Bomb Run: Flak missed us and we put 20% of our bombs on target.

Zone 3: The #2 engine quit (Random Event). The Crew Chief told us afterwards sand was in the fuel line.

Zone 2: One wave of four G.50s. Half were driven off. One of the attackers was an Ace and he hit us on the first two passes before we damaged him on the third pass.

Zone 9: Target Zone 5 ME-109s. The one performing a vertical dive does walking hits and other than a hit to the unused oxygen system tthe other hits are superficial! The attacker at 12 oclock does superficual, comes back and cracks the cockpit window, comes back again and is destroyed by my Navigator on the Port Cheek Gun.

First pass we take superficial damage and the Top Turret kills one non-Ace. Second pass one Ace returns and does walking hits, wounding three and damaging the bomb bay doors. Third pass we take a superficial hit. The inspection of the walking hits notices the damaged Bomb Bay doors. As it is obvious they will not open I abort the mission. 

After leaving the formation and turning for home we are attacked by a lone 110. The Ball Turret kills it.

AFTER ACTION REPORT (QOTS - Beery):

Oil leak in #2 engine approaching the target. Had to shut down the engine after a successful bomb run. After rallying, a FW-190 walked hits from out nose to our tail, in spite of suffering a FBOA result from our Top Turret. This is when we suffered the damage to the Landing Gear instruments, the interphone, and the oxygen for the PWG. The gunner was moved to a spare outlet in the radio room. 

Before attempting a belly landing in the poor weather the non-pilots all bailed out. My Tail gunner had to use his lucky charm to avoid breaking his neck. The modified die roll for the landing was Zero resulting in irreparable damage.

AFTER ACTION REPORT (QOTS - Beery):

Outbound, any enemy fighters were drieven off by the other B-17s in the formation. Inbound 3 ME-110s tried to get to us and our escort drove them away. After landing it was discovered that there had been a mechanical failure of the fire extinguisher system for the engines so we were relieved to have had a milk run.
